When Talking Heals: Lessons learned from restorative justice applications in Hungary's emerging democracy

  • John Jay College - Haaren Hall - Room 630 524 West 59th Street New York, NY, 10019 United States (map)

The restorative approach gives voice and choice to the people, enabling them to strengthen their relationships, build communities and to prevent and manage their conflicts. But what does it look like in practice in a young and vulnerable democracy?

Drawing from her experiences in Hungary, Dr.Borbala Fellegi will examine how restorative practices have been used in her ‘silenced’ country, where citizens still feel the impact of 20th Century dictatorships.

Event co-sponsors:  The CUNY Dispute Resolution Center at John Jay College, Restorative Justice Initiative and the Lehman College School of Education.
